Recreation was led by Alan Kirk. The Spring Tour on June 7 visited Glen and Alan Kirk Glenwood Freed Bobby Isaacson Rodger Larson Darrell Nelson Valgene Isaacson George Rockey and Paul Osborn. A basket dinner followed at Scandia park.
May Freeman daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Freeman of Berryville Arkansas married Everett Robison son of Mr and Mrs Sherman Robison of Scandia in a May 27 ceremony at the Church of God. Rev Marvin Crosby officiated. The bride wore white satin with lace overskirt and carried a white Bible bouquet. Maid of honor Margaret Bonhan wore powder blue net and satin. Phyllis Williams played The Wedding March. Best man Elmer Freeman attended the groom. Mrs Robison will teach in Scandia High School. Robison to sail with the Tenth Division to Germany in July.

MGM brings Tarzan the Ape Man starring Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan back to the screen as a Hall of Fame re release. The film follows Tarzan’s jungle adventures and romance, with famed animal and native peril scenes and a cast including Neil Hamilton and C Aubrey Smith. Coming Wednesday June 22 follows Six Bridges to Cross.
Scandia pitchers held Courtland to one hit as Bob Linden won and Killen took the loss in a game called after the first half of the 5th inning due to rain. Key hits came from Jim Erickson, Bob Currie, Raymond Lewellyn, Gary Reed, and Eugene Lervold. Next at home Jewell City visit June 9, lights possibly ready for a night game. June 12 features another afternoon game against Moss?o.
The program ended Sunday evening under Jimmy Fredrickson with song scripture and prayer. Certificates were given to about 75 attendees as Otto Nelson led kindergarten verses and a puppet show was performed by the junior group. Rev. and Mrs Freeborn could not attend.

A mobile X-ray machine for TB screening arrives in Scandia today, Thursday June 9, to service all residents aged 14 and older. The unit will be stationed in front of The Journal Office from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Scandia will host the first CinemaScope showing at the Princess Saturday and Sunday June 11 and 12. Fred Walls of Topeka arrives June 10 to install and supervise the new equipment. CinemaScope promises a three dimensional feel with height width and breath enhancing color and acting. audiences are urged to support the up to date theater to keep cinema progress in town.

Funeral services were held for Roy C. Riggins of Jamestown at the Methodist church with burial in Downs cemetery. He died at St. Joseph hospital in Concordia at age 73. Survived by wife, son Eugene of Centralia, and brother Ernest Riggins of Scandia. A former Missouri Pacific Depot Agent, he retired years ago. He was born in Scandia and remembered fondly locally.

HONORS NEWLYWEDS Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Robison entertained relatives and friends Thursday evening in Berryville Ark to honor recently married Mr. and Mrs. Everett Robison. The program featured vocal numbers, a poem, and advice to the couple followed by gift veiwing and refreshments.
Twenty six Eager Beaver 4 H members met Thursday evening at the Kackley grade school. Hall call was Garden Hints and singing by Jed by Lyle Bergstrom. Woodworking talk by Dennis Donohoe. A pattern demonstration by Lorna Bergstrom. Music appreciation by Dickie Anderson. A health talk by Andy Johnson. The club voted a ten dollar donation to Rock Springs. Members collected two tons of rusty nails and displayed them at the meeting. A trip with expenses paid to Rock Springs Camp was awarded to Betty Nelson for the nails winner. Sponsored by the Beaver HDU.
Ann Peterson and a host of guests organized a bridal shower for Nadenga Farrell at the Methodist church parlors on Sunday afternoon. The event featured pink and white decorations, a gift bouquet centerpiece, and guests offered recipes and advice before gifts were opened with help from the bride’s mother Rex Farrell. Refreshments were served to a large list of attendees including relatives and friends from Belleville and surrounding towns.
The Pawnee Indians 4H Club clothing class met Friday afternoon June 3 at Mrs. Alfred Freed's home. Lunch was served by Mrs. Freed. Members include Donna and Sandra Douglas, Jean Ann Veach, Carolyn Sell, Michelle Mizer, Carleen Mizer, and Ma’ Mizer.
