Two Vehicle Collisions Near Intersection Injure Several
Sunday crashes at the corner by the Methodist Church in Courtland sent Luther Hicks and wife from Huntsville Westbound on 36 highway to hospital with non serious injuries while Mrs Onnie Cooper of Jamestown suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized at Beloit. Also two car crash near noon injured Mr and Mrs C R Carlson of an Illinois car collision and Dr Victor Wall 75 of Mahaska died when his car collided at the 81 and 36 cloverleaf junction with James Davidson 18 Cuba and Darroll Lesovsky 21 Cuba.

Mrs Janasek earned a Bachelor of Arts and will teach sixth grade next fall at Central School Forest Grove Ore.

Scandia Couple United in June Wedding at Amana Church
Phyllis Elaine Hammer daughter of Mr and Mrs Harvey Hammer Scandia and Ronald O Odell son of Mr and Mrs Oscar Odell Belleville were married June 3 at Amana Lutheran church Scandia Rev George E Nielson officiated at a 730 pm ceremony music by organist Mrs Loren Hammer and soloist Gene Hammer. The gown featured delicate floral pattern lace and a fingertip veil. Maid of honor Betty Hammer wore pastel blue with pink and white bouquets. A reception followed in the church parlors. After a brief honeymoon the couple will reside in Oakley Kansas. They are graduates of Scandia High School Crum's Beauty School and Scandia High School. Odell will attend veterinary school at Kansas State University in Manhattan.

Belleville Nephew Aids Astronaut Rescue In Labrador Flight
Jack K. Eastman, nephew of two Belleville women, piloted the SC54 plane that dropped two paramedics to astronaut Scott Carpenter in the life raft after re entry. He circled the capsule before Carpenter and the medics were recovered by a carrier helicopter. Eastman was on temporary duty in Puerto Rico during the orbital event and was stationed with his family at Goose Bay Labrador.

Mrs Sally E Rosene 80 died May 29 1962 at St Joseph hospital Concordia after a brief illness. She spent 57 years in Scandia with husband Henry Rosene who died in 1957. Surviving are sons Russell Scandia Marvin Wichita Kan a grandson Bryan Wichita a sister Mrs Millie Linden Scandia and half brother Mr Arthur Freed Scandia.
