Scandia Picnic Opens July 31 With Weekend Festivities
The 1947 Scandia Picnic sponsored by Albert Isaacson James Larsen Post 198 of the American Legion runs Thursday July 31 through Saturday August 2 in Deshler Nebraska. Events include a parade, baseball games Scandia vs Aurora and Scandia vs Narkas and Belleville, band concerts and pavement dances. About 25 cars carried boosters on a 189 mile trip to promote the event, attracting roughly 126 to 150 participants who fed in Deshler. Local bands the Legion bingo and Auxiliary stands open, with Brownie Amusement Co. on site. A big three day program is planned beginning at 1:30 p.m. each day.
