A compact set of local items noting Roy al Tailors in Belleville and various short notices. Ben and Louis Johnson head to Dakota this week while Houston Norris returns from Basin Wyoming and Perry Mead returns from Iowa. Albeit miscellaneous, the clippings include paintings, shoeing, laundry, and a Chautauqua event at Belleville.
Local notes report a birth on Monday the 27th to Mr. and Mrs. 8. O. Brindle living east of town. Various visits and travels are mentioned including Bert and Merle Paynter returning from Hiawatha and Prof. and Mrs. G. E. Thorpe visiting the H. 8. Cooper home in recent days.
Wm Hay of Belleville called at the Journal office Saturday afternoon to visit his friend Mr. West and to attend to matters during the visit.
Reports from Scandia say local students finishing a month at Belleville Normal returned Saturday night. They found exams difficult and noted the Belleville educational venture. Belleville burglaries continue to be a concern with several homes and businesses hit recently. R T Smith introduced a novel cigar lighter at his restaurant, reflecting his progressive approach to keeping up with trends.
Theo Granstedt suffered a hedge thorn in his foot this week. Removal proved tricky and a sore foot is expected for several days.
