Irrigation Plan For Concordia Dismissed By Congress

Congressman Carlson says the emergency irrigation project near Concordia has been discarded and no irrigation development is expected until the Har Tan dam is completed. The plan called for a Scandia wing dam and a ditch south to war pits, irrigating ten to twelve thousand acres, with work to begin during the war. The War Food Administration refused approval amid several proposed food production projects. Local enthusiasts funded studies and the Reclamation Service sent experts to explain the plan to landowners.
