County Board of Equalization Meets in Belleville Kansas
The County Board of Equalization met June 6 1900 at 8:30 a.m. with all members present chaired by Wah Bell. They approved land and improvement valuations listing several parcel corrections including Holstrom Weislogle Bowman Downing Loring Blegbera Mosher Stanfield Seg and others and noted personal property omitted in Rose Creek township. The session adjourned to Monday June 11 1900 with a $1500 notice recorded and signatures of Wm Bell chairman and D Wilbon county clerk.

The assessed valuation of Scandia City this year is $83,541. The council at its meeting Friday evening levied a 7 mill general tax 1 interest and 2 sinking fund. The levy last year was 17 mills. The levy could have been still further reduced but for the $400 indebtedness which the last street commissioner left hanging over the city, and to pay which extra tax had to be raised.
