Old Half Dollar Commemorates Trip
The 1935 Old Spanish Trail half dollar commemorated the 400th anniversary of the first overland trek through areas now in the United States. Ten thousand eight thousand halves were minted at Philadelphia and sold for two dollars to benefit the El Paso Museum.设计 by L W Hoffecker with models by Edmund J Senn features Cabeza de Vaca on the obverse and a blooming yucca tree over a route map on the reverse. Dealers now ask up to twelve dollars for the coin.
