Albert Isaacson James Larsen Post No 198 of the American Legion completed plans for the 1947 Scandia Picnic to be held July 31, August 1 and 2. The group will build floats for a big parade and invite clubs and lodges to enter floats. A Booster trip is set for July 25 and a Water Fountain Carnival and pavement dance are tentatively scheduled for 8:30 p.m. each evening.

The highway west of Scandia reopened late Monday after flood waters washed out approaches to two overflow bridges. Last fill on the river bridge west site completed at noon with 400 loads of dirt used and about 200 more needed to finish. The hole measured about 30 feet deep from road level and 17 feet below water.
