Erickson Land Sold At Auction To Neighboring Farmers

The Erickson home place in Union township sold Saturday after noon at the American Legion Hall in Scandia for 42600 to J E Freed, with 70 to 80 acres including an irrigation canal. A second 80 acre tract in White Rock township sold for 17800 to Dale Stafford, both bids clear of powdery bidders from neighboring farms.

Lervold Mrs Helen M postmaster long time in Courtland dies

Walter Anderson Tuesday funeral services 2 PM Friday February 28 for Mrs Helen M Lervold age 67 who died Friday night at St Francis Hospital Wichita after a lingering illness. She lived most of her life in Republic County Kansas and served 17 years as Courtland Postmaster. She had resided in Tacoma Washington for the past three years. Surviving are husband M C Lervold of Tacoma two daughters Kathryn Isaacson Scandia Carolyn Eck Wichita five sons John Joseph Erickson Charles James Erickson Augusta Washington DC Dallas Texas 28 grandchildren two great grandchildren two sisters Naomi Swanson Scandia Ruth Sims Kansas City Kansas one brother Clifford Rickel Houston Texas. Republic County honors Lyle Kent Larson with soil conservation scholarship

At the Belleville annual meeting on Monday evening February 24, Republic County awards the Soil Conservation Scholarship to Lyle Kent Larson. He was nominated last May and must maintain a college grade average as a Kansas University freshman in Lawrence. He spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Glenn A. Larson and Lori.

4-H Club Day Set for Belleville Saturday

Bushman Low Bidder for Rural Water District Project

Rural Water District No. 1 of Republic County named Bushman Construction Company as apparent low bidder to build a waterworks facility spanning from near Kackley to the Hardy well site. The Swedes beat Republic in three recent Scandia home wins and beat Courtland earlier this season to set up the clash. Scandia had a bye to the semis while Courtland edged Burr Oak 55 54. Medicare deductible increases at 1969 levels announced

Jack Loftus of the Social Security Administration will visit Belleville Kansas on Tuesday March 4 1969 to provide information at the Courthouse Basement from 10:00 to 2:00. NEW HOSPITAL DEDUCTIBLE NOW IN EFFECT. The hospital deductible for Medicare beneficiaries rose from 40 to 44 dollars effective January 1 1969 with similar 10 percent increases for longer hospital stays and extended posthospital care.
