Harlan County Dam Contract Awarded for 1940s Project
A contract for constructing the 2 mile earth dam east of Republican City Nebraska was awarded January 30. The Harlan County dam will form an irrigation reservoir for 90000 acres and provide flood control and recreation as part of the Kaw Missouri rivers plan. It will store 150000 acre feet for irrigation and 500000 acre feet at flood crest, with total capacity 850000 acre feet. Work starts within 15 days of notice with completion in about four years.
