A crude oil heater exploded in Wayne last Thursday night about 8 30 p m destroying the Hicks home. Mrs Frank Hicks and four children aged nine months five and ten two and two died in the blaze. An older boy 14 was away. Mr Hicks was badly burned while trying to rescue them. The family tragedy leaves the husband prostrated with injuries and grief.
Sunday evening December 26 1909 a free sacred cantata performance titled The Prince of Peace will be held at City Hall as a community collection event.
