Hit the Deck shines in Cinemascope star cast at Princess

A star studded musical comedy arrives at the Princess Theatre with M G M's Hit the Deck opening Saturday and Sunday December 8 4. Jane Powell Vic Damone Debbie Reynolds and others lead a Navy spanning romance and song from Vincent Youmans. The film features color Cinemascope location scenes San Francisco harbor and a fun house set plus musical numbers like Sometimes I Happy Hallelujah and Join the Navy. Also showing December 10 11 is Many Rivers to Cross.

Sorosis Club Hosts Old Fashioned Pot Luck in Scandia

The Sorosis Study club's Husband's party on November 16 gathered gals in cotton and boys in blue jeans at the Scandia club room. Hosts Mr. and Mrs. Geo Cardwell and Mr. and Mrs. C H West welcomed guests to a kerosene lamp lighted room with harvest decor and a buffet wagon supper.

Cub Scouts Meet In Study Hall With Six Cubs

Den 1, Troop 232 of the Cub Scouts met in the study hall Wednesday afternoon with six cubs, two den mothers and the den chief present. The boys worked on their projects. Perry Ulmer served lynch. The next meeting is set for Wednesday November 30 in the study hall.

Monday evening at the Ulmer residence a planning session was held for the Cub pack meeting set for Thursday at 7 30 pm in the high school study hall. Parents of Cubs are urged to attend and present badges to their boys.

The Intermediate MYF gathered November 27 at the church basement for songs and a game led by Rev. Wilke. Ronnie O'Dell and Larry Johnson conducted the worship service. Scandia Chapter No. 481 OBS met for a special session Tuesday evening November 22 with presiding officers Mrs. Ralph Moe and Carl Hammer. Five candidates received initiatory degrees as Joyce Johnson and Reynold Nystrom sang. Gifts and messages highlighted loyalty and gratitude as Esther received flowers and thanks. Den 2 Cub Scouts Meet Twice in November at Scandia

Den 2 of Scandia Troop 232 met November 21 in the high school study hall with six cubs, the den chief, and two den mothers. They sang America and held a craft session then shared cookies and a living circle prayer. A week later on November 28 the den met again with all cubs, the den chief, and two den mothers. After the flag salute each scout recited the promise and law, they finished crafts, and planned corsage sales to raise money. The den chief led the living circle prayer and Jimmy Erickson served cookies. Both dens meet again next Monday to rehearse for the December 8 pack meeting.

Senior MYF Rally Night At Methodist Church

Senior MYF met in the church sanctuary with Jim Erickson in charge of worship. Elizabeth McBride read scripture, others aiding included Gene Verton and Darrell Nelson. After singing, the group worked in the basement on Swede supper booklets and closed with a friendship circle and MYF benediction. Next Sunday is Rally night inviting all.
