A temperance mass meeting in Belleville on August 18 organized a County League to enforce the prohibitory law in Republic County Kansas. Rev. James Kerr was elected president, J M Beecher Jr secretary, and C G Bulkley treasurer with township vice presidents elected. A $100 reward was set for information leading to prosecutions of violators.
