Bird Surprises and Feathers in the City Naturalist Notes
Edward B Clarke surveys urban bird life with tales of red-winged blackbirds nesting near an old Marconi station, chipping sparrows lining nests with horsehair, and mighty kingfishers clashing in midair. He praises the catbird for its song and defense of its young and reflects on bird temper and heredity in nest building.
