Scandia approves long term Kansas Power Company franchise
The ordinance grants The Kansas Power Company a 20 year franchise to construct operate and maintain electric transmission and distribution facilities in Scandia Kansas. It sets pole height tree trimming and moving provisions and requires acceptance within 60 days before taking effect.

Mutual Benefit Club Minutes Mention July Meeting Plans
The Mutual Benefit Club met on Thursday July 27 with Mrs Noble Isaacson in attendance and twenty two members present. Guests included Mrs Nathan Isaacson and Paul Mrs Emil Isaacson and Junior Mrs Sercian Robison and Sadie and Ada Miss Floy Marie Kanovalsky and Miss Marie Hall of Silverton Ore. The club made plans for a basket dinner to be held at the Granstedt cabin on Sunday August 6. The time was spent embroidering and a lunch was served. The next meeting will be August 10 with Mrs Clara Johnson. Floy Kanovalsky spent a few days with cousins Mr and Mrs Howard Millen. Marlin Morehead shelled corn Wednesday afternoon. Mahlon Morley had scarlet fever. The Wesleyan Methodist church held a picnic at Belleville park Wednesday evening. Mrs Chas Jenkins of Chester visited at the Hall homes earlier in the week. Missionary Society met Thursday with Mrs Mary Mikesell and time was spent working on a quilt.

Mrs Edith Norris Mrs Sherman Robison and Miss Emma Swenson hosted the Welcome In Circle in church parlors on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs C A Smith could not entertain. Refreshments were served to Mesdames Horton Johnson Frank Granstedt and S A Hageman and the Misses Josie Ada Robison Blanche Hageman and others. Several guests recently returned from Nebraska to the C A Forsberg home. Mr Sanders left Sunday for Denver to become manager of a Red and White store. Mrs Sanders will join him in Denver after a few weeks.
