My Love Came Back at Princess Theatre Sat Sun Nights

The Warmer Bros. musical comedy My Love Came Back plays at the Princess Theatre Saturday and Sunday nights. Alivia de Havilland, Jane Wyman, Eddie Albert, Charles Winninger, and Jeffrey Lynn star in a light frothy tale of music school, swing orchestra, and New York spring with laughter and melody. Fox Movietone News and a Looney Tune cartoon Called Dr. Porky are included. Next week promises Chad Hanna.

Cowboy Millionaire Benefit Show At Scandia High

The Journalism class of Scandia High School presents a two night benefit next Tuesday and Wednesday. Proceeds help the class break even for the year. Feature film The Cowboy Millionaire stars George O'Brien as a foreman and part owner of a mine. Also on the bill are a Fox Terrytune Cartoon and an educational reel on farming titled Black Scourge.

School election yields quiet vote and treasurer re elected

The school election held last Friday was very quiet with about a dozen attendees. Mrs. Chris Nelson was re elected treasurer without opposition. Superintendent W E Hodges is reportedly retained for another year, while other teachers have yet to be chosen.

Treasure Show at the YWCA Tonight

The Treasure Show sponsored by the Y W C A will be held this evening at the school auditorium. Mrs A C Freed leads an interesting program and invites residents to bring items they treasure for display. A free lunch follows the program.

Scandia Alumni Elects New Vice President

The Scandia Alumni Association met Friday and elected Carl Larson as vice president. They schedule another meeting for next Friday at 8:00 PM at the city clerk's office. Max Muth is president. Mrs Levi Bygren stayed Thursday night with Mr and Mrs Elmer Nelson in Kackley.

Warren Nelson Wins $25 Bethany College Tuition

Warren Nelson son of Mr and Mrs Chris Nelson won one of Bethany College statewide contest tuitions last week. The award was for baritone performance.

Community Easter Gatherings and Funeral Attendees Noted

Out of town relatives attended the funeral of Mrs. J. K. Currie with many visits and Easter gatherings reported across towns. Guests included the Boman, Blough, McDowell, Jensen, Hammer, Reece, Larson, and Hodges families among others, sharing dinners, egg hunts, and visits in Sabetha, Deshler, Republic, Lovewell, Belleville, Concordia, Kansas City, and nearby areas. The note also mentions Opal Thompson’s funeral after a coal oil stove accident and lists numerous local visitors and entertainers at various homes and events.

Kansas University relays attract Scandia runners

Scandia sends Rex Pixley Elvin Ball Lewis Smith LaVern English and Alfred Hallowell to Kansas University relays in Lawrence. The group will travel Thursday, stay at Delta Tau Delta, and compete in mile and mile relay events with top state track stars while staying Friday night and Saturday.

Musical Treat From Beloit Orchestra in Scandia

The North Central Kansas Symphony Orchestra of Beloit will present a concert at Scandia school auditorium at 8 pm on Sunday April 20. The group, about 40 instrumentalists within 60 miles of Beloit, performs for love of classical music and to foster youth interest. Scandia's instrumental instructor Eugene Tice is a member. Local churches plan to dismiss evening services early to allow attendance.

Jane Ewing led the Easter G. R. meeting on April 10 with Maxine Perry as prelude musician. Track Meet At Courtland Sees Norway Take Narrow Victory

A triangle meet among Norway Courtland and Scandia was held Friday April 11 on Courtland track to acquaint freshmen with track meets. Norway edged the Swedes by a few points as freshmen showed promise and lettermen regained form, suggesting strong teams for the season ahead.

Vocational Agriculture Class To Judge at Junction City

C W Clair and his vocational agriculture class travel to Junction City for Bet ter Livestock Day at the Poland farm eight miles southwest. About 55 head of Black Angus cattle will be entered in 10 classes judged by students and officially placed by Prof. F W Ball and J J Moxley from Kansas State College.

HI Y elect new officers for coming year

The HI Y elected its cabinet for the coming year on Thursday.
