Improvements at Scandia schools include new partitioning
Scandia schools this year feature a sliding door partition separating study hall and the library, a large bulletin board, new library shelving, ivory finishes in home economics, celotex ceiling in domestic science, redecorated halls, fresh paint in boys and girls rest rooms, new fixtures and steel partitions in the girls room, playground equipment repainted prey blue, two new teeter totter boards, completed rock wall and wire netting around the tennis court, surviving newly planted trees, summer watering, and removal of dead elm trees ongoing.

Enrollment totals for high and grade school classes
Enrollment for the school year shows 94 students in the high school and 115 in the grade rooms. There are 26 in each freshman sophomore and junior classes, with 19 in the senior class. In the grade school 25 are in the first and second grades, 28 in the third and fourth, 27 in the fifth and sixth, and 35 in the seventh and eighth grades.

New subjects expand curriculum at Scandia High
Scandia High adds seven subjects this term including Vocational Home Economics with eleven girls taught by Miss Trella Reiber. Vocational Guidance by Mr. Miller enrolls fourteen. General Mathematics by Miss Nichol is offered to freshmen and sophomores. Latin is planned but not taught due to low student numbers.

P. T. A. Opens Year With Reception For New Teachers
The first P T A meeting of the new year on September 20 featured a reception for new teachers led by Mrs. Joseph Englund. Officers announced include Mrs. K. V. Cox president and Supt. F. L. Miller second vice president. New teachers named are Nora Stark Jean Hartman Evelyn Neander Esther Sjogren and Fred Reasoner. The event included performances by the high school band and glee club. A prize for the room with the most new members was announced for October 18.

Freshman Frank Larson leads elected officers with Donald Anderson as VP and Donna Christie as reporter. Sophomores choose Maurice Freed as president, Betty Irene Larson as secretary, Irene Gritten as treasurer, and Ted Cady as a council member. Juniors elect Alice Goodwin as president, with Harold Larson as VP and Jean Johnson as treasurer, La Von Bowersox as secretary, and Valjean Jackson as reporter. Replacements on the Faculty at Scandia Schools
The Scandia schools open with four new teachers plus a new band instructor. Evelyn Neander of Concordia teaches fifth and sixth grade and has training from Emporia State College. Esther Sjogren, Concordia, handles third and fourth grades with training near Kansas University. Nola Stark of Topeka joins journalism English and Latin and has KU and UKY experience. Jean Hartman of Kansas City Kansas leads music for grades and high school with Baker University credits.
