Norseman 1937 Yearbook Starts Senior Drive
The Norseman annual of Skandia High School is sponsored by the senior class and will sell for 1 25. Mildred Johnson is editor with Jimmie Larsen and Lenora Isaac on the staff. Subscriptions discounts reward selling three or more copies, up to five for a free issue, plus a grand prize for top seller. The book will include 20 group pictures and many senior portraits, with material being gathered in the next two weeks.

Juniors Select Herff Jones Rings For 1938 Bequest

Juniors Present Baby Contest in Assembly
Junior class students staged a baby contest for their assembly on Wednesday March 24. Each girl described her baby's good qualities to judge LeRoy Nelson. Contestants included Vivian Nelson as an aristocratic American, Matilda McDowell as a Jewish lady, Georgine Johnson as Dutch, Ardith Curtis as Negro, Evelyn Brown as Irish, Alice Colelazier as Scotch, and Virginia Marshall as American. Babies wore long white dresses and caps. A vocal solo Pennies From Heaven by Walter English accompanied the program.

Easter Sunrise Service Planned by Girl Reserves
The G R members and sponsors will hike to John Shotzman farm for an Easter sunrise service on Sunday March 28. Thirty seven girls will attend with bugle calls songs poems talks and prayers leading to a blessing by the sextette before breakfast. They will attend church services after returning to town.

Hi Y members of the Scandia club plan a line party to the Princess Theater Saturday evening March 27. After the show the group will meet at Mr. Cummings home for refreshments funded by Hi Y. A committee of Valjean Jackson Bill Goodwin and Richard Fogelberg set the menu sandwiches cocoa and apples.

The Norseman represents a race of people who strove for greater success in conquests and has been chosen for the 1987 Scandia High School Annual. Nordic descendants note the yearbook contains a record of all conquests in The Norseman.

Larsen and Reece Seek KU Scholarship in Concordia Trial
Scandia High School sent Billy Reece and Jimmie Larsen to the Summerfield Scholarship preliminaries at Concordia on March 20. About 35 boys took the test among multiple Kansas sites. 20 to 30 of roughly 300 will advance to Lawrence for the final exam with ten or twelve scholarships awarded. The award covers four years of university financial aid.

Senior Play Set for April 9 at High School Auditorium
The Mill of the Gods, a three act drama written by Eugene Todd, will be staged Friday evening April 9 at the high school auditorium directed by Miss Swanson with Miss Nichol as assistant sponsor. Cast includes Woodrow Anderson as Phillip Jefferson and Mildred Johnson as Mary Jefferson with June Freed Patty Jefferson. The production features Leora Loring as Selina and Jack Reece among others with Vera Flesher and Lenora Isaacson as advertising managers and Bob Cahill as stage manager.

Peters and Flesher named captains for 1937 season
At a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon March 16 Vera Flesher was chosen by the girls team and Leo Fat Thomas was chosen by the boys team as honorary captains for the 1937 season. Vera earned her third letter and played guard and forward. Fat Thomas earned his second letter and also competed in track and football.
