A letter urges support for Vocational Agriculture in Scandia high schools, arguing it builds practical farming skills and intellectual growth. It notes many graduates will pursue agriculture, and that the program helps students determine their future, with long term asset value through farm-related earnings and potential business startup.
A ruling requires students to obtain receipts and sign for any organization purchases. If a receipt is missing, the school fund will not cover the bill. The organization treasurer must present the bill to Mr. Lemon to obtain a payment check.
The Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra will appear at Concordia High School Auditorium on February 8 for the fifth year. The matinee begins at 2 45 with 25 cent student admission. 40 local schools have reserved seats and tickets are sold by Mr Hodges.
Supt Hodges plans to travel to Topeka February 1 2 and 3 for the annual Council of Administrations gathering of Kansas school leaders to discuss school problems. All speaking guests will come from out of state.
Miss Alma Nichols of Scandia was summoned home Friday due to her mother Mrs. E C Nichols serious illness. Mrs Nichols was admitted to a Wichita hospital Sunday morning. Mrs Chester Lemon is serving in Miss Nichols place during her absence.

Philharmonic Orchestra at Concordia February 8. Grade Tournament at Courtland February 9 10. County Tournament February 14 17. Jamestown appears February 20. Courtland appears February 28. District Tournament February 28 to March 12.
The Flying Swedes overwhelmed Haddam 31 to 13 with early lead and strong passing. Scoring spread across the first half with 21 to 5 at the break, as Scandia's seconds topped Haddam's 9 to 0.

A fire Thursday morning destroyed the south wing auditorium gymnasium of Scandia High School. Janitor Bob Doctor reported the alarm. Belleville firemen helped while water cooled the blaze. The building suffered heavy losses but students returned to limited classes by Monday as plans for a new building were discussed.
Scandia grade school fans praise coach Otis Rogers and the team for a strong season. The eighth graders Dick Garoutte Junior Preble Donald Larson Jack Mahan plus seventh graders Richard Lewellyn Bob Thompson Ronald Clark Dick Clark Paul Nelgon comprise the squad that posted six wins and two losses.
