Growers Loan and Marketing Company Proposed in Manatee
The Manatee County Board of Trade tentatively launches The Growers Loan and Marketing Company in Bradenton to expand citrus distribution using Florida Citrus Exchange machinery. Capital starts at 25 000 dollars, rising to 100 000, with 25 dollar shares and a 5 cent per crate marketing charge. Directors will choose officers, and a June annual meeting is planned. Strawberry Farm plans crops and large strawberry plantings
The Strawberry Farm management awaits rains to plant strawberry beds and seed the fall English peas and snap beans. 120 bushels of corn were harvested and six plus acres of sweet potatoes will be harvested later. 800000 strawberry plants, raised from northern stock, will be set after removing ten acres—300000 plants—then 500000 remain for sale.
