Plans for New Hotel Advance Under Architect Hall

The hotel project rests with architect H. N. Hall with specifications due in ten days. Mr Burns will then depart for Chicago. Subscriptions total several thousand dollars. Concrete machinery has shipped and will arrive this week to start the foundation. A cut shows the proposed appearance of the hotel.

Remarkable Corn stalk from Fruitville road yields over $200

A. W. Davidson brought a corn specimen to A. B. Edwards showing a stalk 124 feet tall with two full ears and a smaller ear with three ears. The high land patch yielded such a strong return that exact bushel per acre estimates were impractical and net proceeds reached the $200 level.

Sarasota strawberry venture eyed for large scale farming

The Strawberry Association reports plant beds ready and awaits rain to finish setup. First plants will originate from Plant City as a six inch well reaches 15 feet. To irrigate the farm fully the well will be drilled to 450 feet. Growers Starbuck and Madden praised Sarasota after visiting and plan to move there to start a major strawberry operation.

County Demonstrator Appointment Blocked by Injunction

Judge Whitney issued a temporary injunction preventing Manatee County from spending public funds to pay the salary of a county demonstration agent. The dispute centers on whether the appointment is county authority or state funded experimental work. Col. J. H. Lord opposed the move, with O K Reeves and Chas T Curry representing parties.
