Municipal pier project underway on Florida West Coast

The Public Works Commissioner begins preliminary work on a new municipal pier extending about four hundred feet from the old pier. Concrete piles and a twenty six foot roadway lead to a pavilion and grand stand eighty by forty six feet with a glass enclosed dance area. The Arcade and dock become city property after a $39 581 34 deed transfer to City Clerk Thompson. The pier aims to boost West Coast tourism and city image.

Hazel Irene Biorseth tragedy at home on South Pine street

Last Saturday between 12 15 and 12 30 Hazel Irene Biorseth 25 daughter of Mr and Mrs C M Biorseth shot herself in the left breast with a 38 caliber revolver and died instantly at the family residence on South Pine street. The note she left asked forgiveness and to avoid burial in Sarasota. Her parents were in Englewood and her illness and melancholy were given as causes. The brother and grandfather were in the house. a sister and other relatives were notified by telephone. Funeral services were held later.
