Chicago Men Race To Sarasota In Endurance Drive
W R Sproule and partners left Chicago June 5 in a Marmon car to beat the prior Chicago Sarasota time of 65 hours. Two 100 bets and a $200 banquet were set, with no stops for hotels or meals. Weather and road troubles delayed the Marmon to Sarasota by 86 hours elapsed, 50 hours actual running, while a second car logged 104 hours total. They plan to return next spring avoiding rain regions, fish Tarpon, and recount the voyage.
