Tarpon Fishing Good Weights and Sizes Caught

Reports from anglers indicate tarpon fishing has improved since the season opened with catches varying in weight and size. Several boats posted multiple tarpon in the 60 to 120 pound range, and a few larger specimens were landed on light tackle near the mouth of the river.

Largest Tarpon Caught Weighs 885 Pounds in Sarasota

Seaboard Air Line passenger agent O M Dickerson returned from a Sarasota trip where he tried for tarpon. He credits Paul Noble of Sarasota with landing the biggest tarpon yet labeled in the area, weighing 885 pounds, and notes the feat for the prized fish.

Mail Volume At Sarasota Post Office In May

The Sarasota post office handled 21 636 pieces of mail in May including 18 994 first class items and 4 372 third class magazines and mail matter. Fourth class items totaled 175 including packages and merchandise. There were 159 registered letters and 88 foreign letters, reflecting typical summer activity levels for a third class office.
