Tamiami Lodge at Englewood opens as a popular resort for fishing and hunting enthusiasts. The lodge can accommodate four to six more guests. booking is advised due to limited capacity. Proprietors Mr. and Mrs. A. Stanley Lampp.
The seventh annual Bazaar of the Woman's Club netted around 1490, with proceeds supporting library books, building funds, piano needs, hospital expansion, and local committees. Volunteers organized Japanese decor, booths, lunches, and evening entertainments that drew crowds and praise.
Mrs. W. J. Adam of Tampa attended a Sarasota Club fair as a long time Bazaar supporter. Missed in action were Mrs. R. C. Danles and Mrs. Jack Crawford from the Children and Library Booths as they recover health. J. B. Fletcher handled admission fees while a Bee Ridge pig drew crowd interest at the Country Store, won by Elmer Whittle.
A group of fishermen departed from the city pier at six oclock aboard the Marguerite for the Grouper banks in the Gulf of Mexico, breakfasted on board, and caught 283 fish including a fourteen pound grouper. notable catches included a large Jewfish and a fourteen pound grouper while porpoises were seen. More than 40 auto parties visited Indianola Park on Sunday. Mrs Edson Keith welcomed visitors at Indianola Sunday. Mrs Foulds and party from Belle Haven Inn enjoyed a ramble over the park. Mr and Mrs E P Preisler from St Louis were dinner guests at Indianola Club. Mr and Mrs Carman from Tampa made weekend visit. Mr and Mrs Bender from Belle Haven Inn motored out for a birthday dinner dance.
The Woman's Guild will serve a lunch at the Woman's Club on Tuesday at noon February 8. Menu includes chicken pie salad hot rolls coffee and lemon pie. Proceeds go to the fund for building a rectory.
