Sarasota Fireworks Permit Issued by Mayor Higel
The mayor grants permission to fire ordinary firecrackers and fireworks in Sarasota from December 20 to January 3 1912, from sunrise to 10 pm except December 24 and December 31 closings at noon, with restrictions within the fire limits and bay front. The Manatee County Vegetable Co located four miles north of Sarasota reports thirty acres of celery set out and to begin shipping after Jan 1. Six acres of lettuce to be cut at Christmas and twenty acres of tomatoes planned for planting in spring. Thirty five men currently employed.

Teachers Library Open in Bradenton
After a 1910 summer teachers’ meeting, county teachers voted to fund a pedagogical library matching a county allotment. A nucleus of over two hundred books grew through purchases and gifts, with Dr. O. J. Majory’s major donation. Teachers may borrow by sending funds to cover transport. the librarian will assist.
