Frank A. Munsey visited Sarasota and Tampa boosting Florida's profile and promising national attention. The publisher’s tour underscores West Coast potential as direct routes open via Seaboard and Coast Line. James Mumford of Palmetto Florida tested marketing garden produce by parcels post sending a basket of lettuce to the secretary of agriculture postmaster general and Country Gentleman editor. The lettuce arrived in good condition with wilted outer leaves and mild rot, then was remailed to a rural station and again found in nearly the same good condition.
The Yacht and Auto club minstrel show closed with a farewell performance last Friday evening drawing a large audience. After the show, members their ladies and guests shared a bountiful feast in the club hall with toast master Dr. Jack Halton leading remarks praising Sarasota and local people by visitors Hayman and Rankin.
A Sarasota venture plans to organize around strawberry farming for northern markets. The group aims for broad community representation with ten dollar shares and a 25-share voting cap. Land leasing rather than purchase is favored to secure suitable soil and drainage, with projections of strong local receipts and regional economic benefits.
J H Hill travels through the state taking orders for the Sarasota Cigar Company. He showcases products and secures commitments from retailers and customers during the campaign.

A Florida road test at Eustis shows a 600 foot sand and asphaltic binder stretch laid on a sand clay base. The 9 foot wide strip remains hard and quiet after fourteen months, with no edge damage or surface wear from carts, teams, or autos. The mix uses clean sand heated with Standard Grade C binder at 27 dollars per ton, requiring 16 to 20 gallons of oil per cubic yard.
