President Eisenhower returns to Washington after a Gettysburg weekend to launch active campaigning. He will meet with James Hagerty and Secretary Dulles for overseas talks ahead of a London conference on the Suez Canal issue. He also plans a morning with his brother Dr Milton Eisenhower.
Secretary of State John Dulles plans to join 18 nations in London for talks on forming a Users Association to control canal transit. The plan includes American oil aid to Western powers rerouting ships around Africa if Egypt blocks passage. Spain joined the invitation, Ethiopia remains noncommittal.
