The Seoul government announced 1,336 politicians and former officials cleared in the junta screening. The purge list included 4,369 names with 3,033 others barred from political activity until 1968.
Pa tricia and Prudence Lowe, Siamese twins separated at Children’s Hospital in a five hour operation Tuesday, are described as coming along nicely. Surgeons say their chances for normal lives are excellent. They are daughters of Mr and Mrs Franklin Lowe born April 11 with fused liver and diaphragms.
Sixty nine people were killed and 18 injured when a bus plunged through a bridge railing into the Mahar River sixty miles east of Ahmedabad on Wednesday night. Ahmedabad lies about 500 miles southwest of New Delhi.
Robert H. Birdsong, 21, of Miami died when his car overturned on a highway to Torreon in Durango. Passenger Roland M. Klein of Cocoa, Florida escaped injury. Birdsong's body was taken to a local hospital awaiting arrangements to return it to Florida.
The Florida Supreme Court reduced a public reprimand for Fort Lauderdale attorney Ellis Rubin after finding no wilful misconduct. Rubin’s actions stemmed from a 1959 murder case in Miami and a Rosenberg call to the defendant’s father offering Rubin’s services. The court cited Rubin’s charitable record and indigent defense work but faulted him for not withdrawing when aware of improper conduct. Rubin had previously been honored in 1954 for defending more than 200 indigents at no charge.

AP reports 11 fatalities from three plane crashes plus auto traffic drownings and boating accidents, raising the one day Memorial Day total to 183 ahead of 1956's 174. The report also notes Viet Cong kidnapping of three American missionaries near Ban Me Thuot as U.S. response searches.
Four children and two adults died in separate air crashes near Ripley and Sherman New York. A private plane overturned and burned after striking a pole at Ripley airfield end of the grass runway. In Sherman two planes collided 500 feet above a pasture killing three. Victims include Susan 12 Barbara 11 Mary Elizabeth 5 Vance daughters of Robert Vance and Rev Raymond C Monroe and Richard H Keppel and his son Scott. Robert Vance and Harold Vance were injured and hospitalized in Westfield Memorial.
Five people including two girls aged about 12 and 14 and their parents died when a private Cessna 175 crashed near Holly Hill South Carolina late Wednesday night. Also killed were Earl C. Huband Jr. of Wilmington North Carolina and James Garrett Reid of Houston Texas. The plane with four seats apparently carried five aboard and exploded in a bright orange flash after striking trees.
In London AP report 500 Labour women leaders backed Jeannie Buchan 35 who sought refund after a scratchy brassiere cost 16 shillings. She failed to get redress. conference urged creation of a government department to handle consumer complaints and boost buyer rights.
In New York the market rose as institutional buying returned, erasing the week's earlier plunge. The Standard & Poor index advanced to 59.54 and the Dow gained 9.03 to 612.99, with some prices still below opening levels.
The body of 4 year old Kenny Kowalachuk was found at the 54 foot level of an abandoned coal mine near Ghost Pine Creek Alta. He had fallen in about 36 hours earlier and apparently suffocated. Rescue workers lowered the body to the surface in a crane bucket after a 20 man team hoisted dirt from the narrow shaft abandoned since 1932.
The Senate Republican Policy Committee led by Senator Hickenlooper attacks Kennedy on budget, jobs, and price controls. The group, directed by David Teeple, moves toward a tougher stance as the 1964 election nears, with conservatives shaping strategy and rhetoric.
A fast freight train ran a red signal outside Voghera station and collided with a standing Riviera bound express, killing 61 and injuring about 70. The freight, from Lecco to Genoa, struck the last two cars. passengers, many standing, faced chaotic救救救救 severities as rescuers cut through wreckage.
Evangelist Billy Graham urged Americans to reclaim moral frontiers while pursuing new ones during a Chicago opening at McCormick Place. About 33 500 attended as Graham warned of greed, prejudice and war and stressed the Bible as guide to end racial strife and renew personal faith. Crusade officials said about 450 people made decisions for Christ.
Chicago preacher Samuel E. Smith failed to reach 13 top city syndicate figures via personal calls and letters urging them to attend Billy Graham’s revival. The Indiana minister, 57, said he sought one convert from the underworld and noted figures include Anthony Acardo, reputed Capone successor, though most interacted with wives or guards. Smith leads the Gospel League Home in Chicago, aiding homeless residents.
President Kennedy flew to Washington from Glen Ora near Middleburg Virginia after celebrating his 45th birthday and Memorial Day with family. The presidential helicopter landed at the White House at 9 30 a.m. after the Virginia trip.
Henry Fountain Ashurst longtime Arizona Democrat and one of the first U.S. senators from Arizona died at Georgetown University Hospital at age 87 after a stroke. Born Sept 13 1874 in Nevada he rose from cowboy roots to Senate chair of the Judiciary Committee serving 1912 1941 and later on the Board of Immigration Appeals. He was known as Five syllable Henry and Beau Brummel of the Senate with a never shy sense of humor. He leaves a brother Edward sister Maude West and stepson John Renee.
