Artist Survives Three Day Swim With Dog Down Grand Canyon
Earl L. Francis 27 of San Manuel Arizona and his Airedale Cadillac were rescued from the Colorado River after a three day ordeal that began May 7. Francis chose to stay with the dog rather than recover their canoe, surviving on water, mud bars, and bare temperatures from 55 to 100 degrees. They were pulled from swift rapids near Phantom Ranch on Thursday and taken to a hotel in Grand Canyon Village. Francis’s parents live in District Heights Maryland.
