General I D White, commander in chief of the Army’s Pacific forces, said the United States could drop 1500 paratroopers into Red threatened Laos within hours. He noted the Airborne Battle Group on Okinawa could move on two hours notice and the rest of the 25th Division on Hawaii in 12 hours. Sailor Circus Eyes 1962 Europe Trip For Ambassadors

Sarasota High plans a long range program to seek State Department support for sending the Sailor Circus to Europe in 1962. Principal Howard Sherman says the project would cost far less than missiles and could expand to South America in 1963 and Asia in 1964. The plan includes language and cultural training for selected students and three days of performances plus three days visiting capitals. Congressman James Haley has approved the idea and sent it to the State Department for consideration.
