An autopsy confirms Mrs Elea Nor Sullivan aged 56 died after dropping a bottle of liquid in a Quincy kitchen. She slipped on the liquid and fell onto a broken bottle, causing a nine inch fatal gash in her leg.
Florida lawmakers readied for reapportionment votes after a two week deadlock. Senate and House bills would redraw 38 senatorial districts to give Bay and Monroe counties their own seats. The House plan would create districts for Bay, Monroe, Sarasota and Manatee and lump Jefferson Wakulla and Liberty. Senator Clarke opposes adding Liberty. Governor Collings must approve any final measure.
Police nab two men from a panel truck after gunfire hit one motorist and shattered windows along U.S. 40 east of Uniontown. The truck bore a pamphlet denouncing hoodlums and calling for deportation. Suspects William W. Jackson and Samuel P. Johnson were taken for questioning.
Washington reports an Air Force spokesman says a false germ warfare confession was obtained from Capt Harold Fischer Jr of Swea City Iowa by Chinese forces. Fischer, a double jet ace from the Korean War, was released May 1 after more than two years in Chinese prison camps.
