Bradenton Boy Killed Instantly In Auto Crash
Robert Floyd Cook, 19, of Bradenton, who was to be inducted into the Navy on Sunday, died when his car ran off Rt. 41 near Palmetto and struck a palm tree at 4 a.m. Passenger John Styers, 30, of Palmetto, was seriously injured and hospitalized with fractures and internal injuries. Police report the car traveled 92 feet along the shoulder after Cook appeared to fall asleep. The car burned but was quickly extinguished.
