Sarasota Soap Box Derby Sets Big Day With Prize Trip
Tomorrow Sarasota hosts the second annual Soap Box Derby on North Washington Boulevard from Third to Seventh Street. About 30 racers will compete starting at 10 30 a m with a rain date of July 27. Winners receive an all expense paid trip to Derby Downs Akron Ohio and a $5000 college scholarship plus a Europe trip while Harold Parke and Jeff Jernigan are noted entrants. Local sponsors include the Sarasota Jaycees The News and Chevrolet with prizes from Maas Bros and four Tampa entrants expected.
