Charred wreckage remains after two separate air crashes over Florida kill at least eleven airmen. Eight perished near Tampa when two jet bombers collided near a trailer park. one from MacDill AFB and the other from Pinecastle AFB. A second crash near Port St. Joe involved a Sabre jet and a B29, killing at least three more with three missing.
National Airlines will inaugurate direct Sarasota to New York DC-4 service starting January 5, reducing travel to 4 hours 25 minutes. Northbound departs 8:20 a.m. from Sarasota, arrives 12:45 p.m. in New York. southbound leaves New York 5:15 p.m., arrives Sarasota 9:40 p.m. after a Tampa stop. A Sarasota hotel lobby ticket office opens January 16.

In Amman riots continued with police and Arab Legion troops dispersing demonstrators after the king dissolved Parliament and called for new elections.

Readings stayed below zero in Minnesota North Dakota and Wisconsin with Minnesotans reporting 45 below yesterday in Bemidji.
