Binns Elected to City Commission as Citizens Group Holds Power
John O. Binns won a three year term on the city commission defeating Frank L. Hoersting 1 047 to 730 in an election with 1 796 of 6 490 voters casting ballots. Binns thanked the Citizens Committee and colleagues while Hoersting pledged to run again next year. Binns, Land O Sun Creamery manager, was backed by 71 of the committee’s 400 members. He takes office Friday at 4 p.m. and the commission will elect vice John Kicklighter as mayor.
