Alex R Wheeler an airman at West Palm Beach went missing after his car entered a canal and is presumed drowned while fellow airman Richard A Kruger survived.
Washington reports Japan's Mamoru Shigemitsu opening a three day visit to discuss freer defense policy and easing trade limits with Communist China. He meets Secretary of State Dulles after a lunch hosted by Robert Murphy while U S officials consider changes to the security treaty.
TOKYO The U S Air Force postponed until midweek a press conference by Lt. Guy H. Bumpass of Jackson Mississippi whose plane was shot down near the Korean truce line. The delay cited his fractured skull and physical condition.
Paris reports Premier Faure’s cabinet will pursue negotiations with Moroccan Nationalist leaders to form a new government by September 12. Minister Pierre July said the five member committee’s reports were reviewed after Aix les Bains talks, aiming for broad nationalist inclusion and peace in French Morocco.
The region shows generally pleasant conditions with chilly starts in the Northeast and Southwest heat. Early Monday readings ranged from the 40s in northern New England and northern Rockies to the mid 80s in the Rio Grande Valley and desert Southwest.

Allied sources report the U N Command will shrink the Korea inspection mission by closing four ports of entry and halving team sizes from 12 to 14 members. The plan targets Kangnung Kunsan Chongjin and Hungnam ports amid South Korean protests over Czech and Polish inspectors.

Robert H. Persons, 58, leaped into the Niagara River near Prospect Point and was swept over the American Falls. Five hours later he was seen crawling on a ledge below the falls and was rescued but died later at a hospital. He lived in East Aurora, N.Y.
Elmer Francis Burke 37 known as Trigger was captured at Folly Beach near Charleston. FBI agents seized him Saturday night and a preliminary hearing set for Friday with bonds of 100000 on each of two charges. Authorities in New York and Boston sought his return for trial.
