Detective Lt. Arthur Johnson said investigators talked with about 15 people as they pursue leads in the Aug. 7 death of 22 year old Chandler Steffens at his University of Florida home. Autopsy shows torture before throat slashing and binding.
Rescuers scoured slides near Hebgen Dam seven miles below the Madison River valley seeking victims of a major earthquake. Reports list 17 to 19 dead and about 60 injured as Marines, Forest Service crews, and sheriffs deputies searched debris. among the dead were Mrs. Margaret Holmes of Billings and Purley Bennett family members from Idaho, with several others identified and more bodies believed to lie in the debris field.
