Police hunt four unidentified men for abducting and killing Leon Marcus a 61 year old former Chicago Bank executive with federal indictments in the Hodge embezzlement case Marcus was kidnapped outside the Rado home and shot in a city parking lot. The case draws focus to alleged links between Hodge and downstate gangsters. Marcus had been imprisoned for the embezzlement but the Justice Department continued reviewing documents tied to possible income tax indictments.
Miami weather officials warned small craft to stay in port as wind gusts reached 20 to 30 mph. Rough seas continued along the Florida Gulf Coast and were expected to persist into the night.
A prosecution medical expert testified that Dr John Bodkin Adams gave Mrs Edith Morrell a heroin dose 35 times the normal maximum two days before she died. He said Adams acted with murderous intent to gain her fortune as the trial enters its third week.
