Laurel School Opens With Noted Community Ties
School opened Monday with Miss Lund as teacher and good attendance. Many local residents visited friends and family in Laurel and nearby towns. The post office election approved special tax and trustees, while a large Lone Pine Theatre dance entertained. Community meetings, visits, and road improvements were also noted along with a Woman's Club gathering honoring outgoing officers.

Englewood election selects district school trustees and plans new building
In Englewood last Tuesday voters chose W. Hampton Lampp Leslie G. Buchan and Mrs E B Igeese as school trustees for the Englewood district. They plan a new school house with specifications. the Sarasota County Board of Public Instruction has set a bond of $4000.60 at seven percent interest, due over twenty years, with bonds in $500 denominations. The resolution is to be published weekly for four weeks.
