Council Awards Additional Paving Contracts

The council awarded Mr. J. W. Crawford the paving contract for Osprey Avenue and Kentucky Avenue after bidding. Osprey runs from Seventh to Twelfth street at four dollars per front foot. Kentucky from Palm to Pineapple at three fifty per square yard and fifty cents per linear foot for curb.

Dr F M Warner Purchases Six Lots on Hudson Bayou

Over the past week Dr F M Warner via Mr FE O Burns bought six lots on Hudson bayou for 4000 dollars and plans a T room stucco cottage with a private boat house. Improvements to begin once plans are finished as real estate activity rises in the area. Dredging North Arm toward the railroad and a bridge over North Arm at Seminole street are reportedly planned.

Crawford Buys Prime Sarasota Frontage and Lots

Real estate actions last week include a purchase of 155 feet frontage on Banana avenue and 12 lots on Tenth Eleventh and Twelfth streets by Mr J W Crawford. The deal was brokered by Mr C E Burns and signals Crawford confidence in Sarasota future. He has long been a leading bidder on Sarasota properties and can gauge the citys prospects.

Mr. Cousins Buys Site for Boat House on Hudson Bayou

Mr J G Cousins buys two lots on the North Arm of Hudson Bayou facing Mound Street. He plans a private boat house for his yacht and dredging from the current channel to accommodate the project will begin soon.

Registration Books Close for June Democratic Primary

Voters must register as Democrats and pay poll tax by the May deadline to qualify for the June primary. Registration remains open at the registration officer's office in the courthouse until Monday May. The Bryan primary law requires party affiliation to determine Democratic participation and candidate nomination.

Grammar Schools to Close Next Month

At a regular school board meeting the county votes to run Grammar schools through this month to complete an eight month term and close them thereafter. The High school will continue for a full nine months. Board notes routine matters and highlights improvements and anticipated better finances next season.

Woman's Club Meeting Highlights Civic Topics and Donations

Death of Little Child Extwards Boy

Two year old Lloyd Barden Extwards, son of Mr and Mrs W L Extwards, died Sunday night from meningitis. Burial was Monday afternoon at Miakka cemetery. The family mourns the loss of their only child, with many friends expressing sympathy.

Appreciation for Welfare committee party at Golf Club

Mr and Mrs Boardman receive praise from the Welfare committee of the Woman's Club for a Golf Club event last Tuesday that netted nearly 200 dollars. The committee coordinated flowers evergreens refreshments and music by the Boardman orchestra with Wayne dancing. Over a hundred guests attended and Sarasota honors the Boardmans for their generous community contributions.

County Commissioners meet to review tax valuations and relief

The board, led by Chairman Walpole and Commissioners Hayden and Buchan, heard requests for lower real estate valuations and tax relief. Several residents sought reductions or exemptions, with some refusals and referrals to clerks. A $50,000 time warrants issue was rescinded and drainage canal costs addressed. The group approved a widow’s exemption for Anna Jones, authorized a $10,000 loan secured by warrants, and decided to relocate the office upstairs in the courthouse.
