Jacksonville September 19 reports 156 new fever cases in the 24 hours ending 3 PM. The day is described as bright but delusive with the pestilence seeming worst and a death roll beginning, while additional cases were tallied by the medical bureau after official reports closed.
New York September 19 Lelia Farrell a burlesque actress formerly with the Adonis troupe and Lydia Tompson s company sued Comedian Nat Goodwin for 10000 for breach of promise of marriage. They were engaged but Goodwin was said to be persuaded to break the engagement by his father. Escaped Baton Rouge September 19 yesterday the jury in W A Strong ex secretary of state s embezzlement case announced an agreement was reached. The sheriff went to call the attorney general and Strong followed and has not been seen since. The jury had found him guilty.

In New Orleans on Sept 19 a report from the Pica yune via Austin says the New Orleans quarantine is not raised until fever is ruled out. Galveston fever reports fail. the governor orders inquiry. Randall not yet nominated as Philadelphia districts renominate incumbents Bingham O Neil Kelly Harmer. the third district adjourned without a candidate.
Boston report notes John J. Sullivan's mother and a priest summoned to Crescent Beach amid rumors of a critically ill pugilist. A Crescent Beach reporter visits Sullivan’s home and learns his condition is not at present alarming, with no immediate danger.
Washington Sept 79 Cox of New York presided over a Democratic House caucus. Many speakers urged against initiating an adjournment resolution. The caucus previously decided to keep the House in session until the Senate states its intentions.
New York Sept 19 James Lang don Curtis of this city issued his letter accepting the presidential nomination offered by the convention of the National American party.

Chicago cattle receipts 15,000 with steady market, Beeves 6.10 to 6.30, steers 3.50 to 6.05, stockers 2.00 to 3.60, Texas cattle 2.00 to 3.60, western rangers 2.65 to 4.55, cows/bulls 1.45 to 3.20. Sheep receipts 10,000 with natives 2.75 to 3.90, western shorn 3.30 to 4.80, Texas shorn 2.75 to 3.30.
