Dated Oct 13 Lafayette Ind reports Governor Eland party greeted by clubs. 2000 marchers fill streets, a drum corps of 20 ban dana clad women leads. A 2 pm mass meeting at the rink packed as Governor Fill speaks about the national administration and tariff. Separate Chicago-Yerkes talks end without results.
A large audience gathered as Gov. Hill, escorted by Gov. Gray and Chairman Jewitt, arrived at Omlinson’s Hall for a mass meeting. Hill spoke over an hour in an enthusiastic demonstration that echoed his Mitchell remarks.
Chicago on October 12 reports continued hearings for men charged with dynamite placed on a north side car track. Detectors uncover a broader conspiracy implicating at least five persons. Attorney Furthman said two more arrests would occur that morning and that suspects would likely reveal the plot details.
The Farmers and Mechanics bank in Pittsburg failed with unknown causes. It had capital stock of 130000 and was a small local concern.
