Utah Mormon church dissolved by supreme court ruling
The Utah Supreme Court today dissolved the Mormon Church corporation under the 1887 federal act, holding its property escheats to the government aside from the temple block. It ruled trusts upheld polygamy and denied individual claims, with real estate to be held by receivers pending forfeiture action. The decision is subject to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Chicago Street Car Strike Paralyzes West Side Transit
In Chicago on Oct 9 a street car strike paralysis hit the west and north sides with 210 lines tied up. Rioting as youths blocked tracks at Garfield and Larrabee, police charged, clubs swung, and a woman was wounded. Only a few cars ran later under guard.

In Dover New Jersey on October 10 Jack McAuliffe defeated Cilly Dacey in eleven rounds lasting forty two minutes and forty seconds to claim the Police Gazette diamond belt. McAuliffe dominated with brutal lefts and uppercuts while Dacey fought gamely, nose bleeding in round six as a crowd of under fifty elite spectators looked on.
