Voter Registration Plan Announced in Idaho
Boise Secretary of State Pete Cenarrusa announced a new mail-out voter registration system with planned high school student registration in late October. He warned the plan may save little money and urged existing voters to re-register within 30 days, while officials expect low return rates.

Boy 16 Dies in Car Crash Near Rupert Idaho
Dirk W. Petterman aged 16 of Paul Idaho died in a Salt Lake City hospital from injuries from an Aug 25 crash. He was a passenger in a car driven by Dennis M. Widmeir 16 of Rupert when the vehicle ran off a Minidoka County road and threw him out. The wreck occurred about two and a half miles south and eight miles west of Rupert. Idaho traffic fatalities reached 233 compared with 249 a year earlier.

Law School Bid Postponed in Idaho
Opening of bids for a new University of Idaho law school building is delayed to allow a cash flow study of the permanent building fund. The fund advisory council plans a new bid date once funds suffice, noting authority to issue tax anticipation notes though unused since 1961. Earlier this year the legislature approved 1.6 million dollars for the project.

Inmate Arson Trial Date Set for December 2 3
Fourth District Judge Marion J. Callister set a trial date of December 2 3 for a 34 year old state prison inmate charged with arson in the August 10 riot at the institution. Richard Graham pleaded innocent at arraignment. Another inmate, Johnny M Salazar, 25, faces arson charges and awaits a preliminary hearing delayed by hepatitis.
