Bonner County Co-op posts record year and new director

Bonner County Co-op reports a record 1.245 million in sales for the year, up 125000 from last year, and increases capital from 500000 to 1000000. Tom CopelandForm Bonners Ferry joins to represent the northern district as a new director. Muddy announces fiscal year end moved to September 30 and inventory day set for September 30 with the annual meeting in early December.

Donut Shop Opens In Sandpoint On First Avenue

William Sharpe, a Blackfoot entrepreneur with 22 years in donuts, opens Sandpoint's first donut shop in the former Benoits Bootery space on First Avenue. The Sandpoint location will also serve as a production site for Newport and as a retail outlet, aided by the Small Business Administration.

North Idaho concert association ends drive September 26

The North Idaho Community Concert Association will close its membership drive on Saturday September 26. Headquarters are at the Sandpoint Furniture Company. Information requests may be directed to 263-5012. A board meeting is set for 1 00 p.m. the same day at Washington Water Power. all directors should attend. Memberships cost 8 for adults and 4 for students. no new memberships will be sold after September 26.

Tuesday September 29 is Chamber Day in Sandpoint with a 7 30 am kick off breakfast at the Elks Club for all drive workers and a 12 noon membership meeting at the same venue where ballet results and new directors will be announced Nominees include Dan Deshon Jr Bill Fournier Jack Jones Jerry Lewis Wes Preison Pete Thompson Dick Whittaker and Bob Wilcox Directors ending terms are Terry Merwin Clarence Reed Bill Morton and Jack Murray Allen Cochran concludes his year as Advisor to the Board and Merwin becomes Advisor for the coming year. Election of new officers will occur at the October Directors Meeting.

Elks Plan Wallace Trip for Roundup and Initiation

The Sandpoint Elks Lodge officers will travel to Wallace for the lodge's Annual Roundup and initiation ceremony for a large candidate class. Wives will join a noon luncheon, with the group attending the Roundup Dance that evening and returning Sunday. Also traveling are Mr and Mrs Doug Deide and Mr and Mrs Norman Bauer.

Project Gets Jaycees Check

A spokesman for the Idaho Conference on Children announced a donation from the Sandpoint Jaycee. The check, presented to Rev. James Doak, will fund sending three Sandpoint youths including Kitty Timblin to the Boise conference as a prelude to the White House Conference on Children in December.

Governor Samuelson Attacks State Auditor In Idaho Campaign

Idaho Governor Don Samuelson criticized State Auditor Joe Williams calling him a bottleneck to modernization. Samuelson endorsed GOP auditor candidate Jack Holly and recounted finding outdated IOUs and cigar box accounting in the auditing department. He praised Idaho mining for contributing billions to the state. Meanwhile suburban Chicago residents reported a car with rapid mushroom growth in the rear carpeting during a past purchase.
