Child Drowns Reader's Toddlers Near Open Sewer Lagoon

Idaho Panhandle roadless inventory gains additions after public input

The Idaho Panhandle National Forests completed a preliminary roadless and undeveloped areas inventory totaling 902 710 acres. Public suggestions added 33 650 acres and deleted 15 260 acres while remaining areas keep existing vehicle access and other uses.

Public response favors multiple use over wilderness in Caribou forest

In Idaho the Caribou National Forest received 4682 written responses to the roadless area review. Most favored continued multiple use management and opposed wilderness designation, with only six requests to add areas to the inventory.

Court Denies Injunction Over Campus Alcohol Ban

Fourth District Judge Gerald Schroeder refused to halt the Idaho State Board of Education from enforcing its campus alcohol ban. The emergency policy allows 19 and older students to drink in private dorm spaces but bans alcohol in public campus areas. The ruling preserves the board action while allowing future hearings before making the policy permanent. The Associated Students of Idaho University Idaho State Boise State and Lewis Clark College sought the injunction citing potential harm and procedural concerns.
