A Ponderay woman, Catherine Mabel Penrod, fell from the top row of bleachers at the Bonner County Fairgrounds during the Panhandle Rodeo and is paralyzed from the chest down. Doctors found one crushed and one cracked dorsal vertebra with limited sensation returning. recovery is uncertain and may be lengthy. Her sister, Helen Alspach, described the emergency and Penrod's ongoing care at St Luke's Hospital in Spokane.
