Pickup Stolen From Dalby’s Exxon Recovered at Airport
A 1958 Ford pickup stolen on August 8 from Dalby’s Exxon was found Monday at Spokane International Airport. The suspect, an Athol juvenile, is held at the Spokane Sheriff’s office and charged with a misdemeanor. The truck belongs to Terence MacAfey of Sandpoint.

Inattentive driving cited in Sagle rollover
Janie M. Taylor 20 of Sagle was charged after her 1972 Toyota Corona left Garfield Bay Road five miles from U S 95 rolled onto its top. Passenger Donna Pfeiffer 19 of Sandpoint suffered bruises and was treated at Bonner General Hospital and released. Vehicle damage estimated at $1,000.

Bond Set for Rex Johnson in Grand Theft Auto Charge
Rex Johnson aged 26 of Moses Lake was arraigned in First District Court on grand theft auto after being shot in the left shoulder by a Spirit Lake reserve police officer during a pursuit of an allegedly stolen pickup. Judge Donald Swanstrom set bond at 4000 dollars with a hearing slated for September 20 at 1 30 p m.

The correction states Imogene C. Davis 49 of Sandpoint driving a 1974 Opel Monza clipped the right rear of a 1977 Ford Maverick driven by Julia Ann Wicks 73 of Sandpoint on U S 200 at Shingle Mill Road Sunday. The Bee notes Wicks struck Davis and apologizes for the error.

HEW Chief Unveils Plan to Simplify Red Tape
Health, Education, and Welfare Secretary Joseph Califano launches Operation Common Sense to rewrite HEW rules. A five year reform aims to cut 6,000 pages of CFRs to clearer, up to date regulations and invites public comment on problematic rules.
