Orville Heath, a 51 year Algoma resident and retired farmer, demonstrates spinning wool on a nearly century old wheel at the Bonner County Library. He idled on the craft for 12 years after restoring the wheel and now teaches novices while sourcing wool from his Angora goats and sheep. Heath uses natural plant dyes from mushrooms, sagebrush, tomato vines and bark to color yarn, and prefers traditional methods over modern wheels.

Oden Water System Plans Longer Intake In Bay
The Farmers Home Administration approved a 21 500 loan and 21 000 grant to extend the Oden Bay Water System intake. The new intake will extend 1300 feet into Oden Bay to counter lake drawdown. Bids will be let this month and construction will start when water is low. About 140 families are connected. 40 more await hookups as a new intake could allow more connections.
